The 2015 OEH Jeopardy was hosted by I3HSA in early February in CPHB. This year's host was Anthony Yang, with score keeper Levi Mines. Each team actually had new faculty playing along (see the 2014 debacle) and a mixture of students from all Occupational Health disciplines. This year, everyone got the final jeopardy question, but had difficulties figuring out things that faculty did in their childhood!
The winning team was "Car Ramrod," which was comprised of Dr. Kelly Baker, Craig Holder, Josh Kersey, Ashlee Johannes, Jon Fields and Aimee Liz Stark.
Three IH students and two engineering students who conducted research in the IH labs defended their MS theses and hung banners in May of 2015. From left to right, we have Levi Mines, Laura Kienlen, Anthony Yang, Sam Jones, and Ryan Grant.
Once again, we had no latter or hammer injuries, although we did learn a little bit more about who we would trust to drive a nail into the wall (and who we wouldn't).
Students and faculty attended AIHce in Salt Lake City, UT. Eight students traveled to Salt Lake City to attend the conference and network with industrial hygienists around the world. Seven students presented posters (Changjie Cai, Joel Ramirez, Laura Kienlen, Kate Leonard, Levi Mines, Sarah Williams Ischer, and Anthony Yang), while Levi and Joel also presented their research in round tables.
Two students received scholarship award recognition (Sarah and Kate) and Laura won a "best poster" award from the AIHA Health Care Working Group for her poster "Comparison of Bioaerosol Collection Methods in the Detection of Airborne Influenza Virus."
The brave few also ran in Tuesday morning's annual fun run, described as up hill, followed (thankfully) by down hill.
Students, faculty, alumni, and Iowa hygiene professionals gathered at the Iowa reception for networking and to learn about exciting activities in the IH program at the University of Iowa.
