OEH Seminar Scavanger Hunt 2015
All students in OEH seminar participated in a scavenger hunt yesterday evening to get to know the CPHB building and the OEH faculty. The teams were required to take a selfie with each of the items or people described on their lists. Here are a few of the most entertaining photos. Extra points were given for style.

Winning teams received fabulous gifts and prizes. Thank you to Brandi and Diane for arranging the event and Christy for the snacks! We hope all of the OEH seminars are this much fun!
Discussion Panel with Industry Representatives
I3HSA would like to extend a huge thank you to the four industry representatives that joined us for a discussion on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015. The panelists shared interview tips, what to expect in your first job, and general workplace etiquette. Students were able to ask questions and voice their concerns about entering the workforce. It was a very informative meeting, complete with snacks!

Spring 2016 Kick-off Social
Students and faculty of the UI Industrial Hygiene program got together and had a little karaoke showdown to kick off the spring semester. It was a great way to spend some time with our colleagues off campus and blow off some steam before classes start up again.
Abby, Emily, Corey and Taryn jam out to a karaoke classic.
Laura and Taryn "shake it off."
Sarah and Kate serenade the crowd with smooth melodies.
Taryn, Abby, and Emily channeled their inner Adele.
Sinan and Tom stole the show with their disco moves.
Fun was had by all. Thank you to Tom for hosting!

March 2016: I3HSA presents.. "My Car Does What?"
I3HSA had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Dan McGehee and Kayla Smith discuss the "My Car Does What?" campaign and check out UIowa's very own semi-automated research vehicle. We discussed the impact vehicle automation technologies could have on communities and the workforce.
Dr. McGehee explained some of the features and technologies that make this automated car different than your average SUV before he took the group out on a test ride.
Dr. McGehee compared the semi-automated Volvo XC90 to a teenager. Yes, it knows how to drive, but it still needs a little supervision.
A perhaps unforeseen benefit of an automated car is safer driving selfies! We did take this at a red-light though, just to be extra cautious.
Thank you to Dr. McGehee and Kayla Smith for providing us with such a cool experience. We're all starting our funds for our own semi-automated cars!

OEH Jeopardy 2016
Congratulations to the 2016 OEH Jeopardy winners, Nikki, Theresa, Nate, Abby, and Samantha! The Second Year IH students organized a great event, testing knowledge of all things occupational health and Iowa City. One of the most enjoyable categories of the event was"Pint-Sized Professors," in which baby pictures from a few different professors were shared.
Our Alex Trebek of the evening was none other than Kate Crawford.
Team "Still Debating" in deep discussion about an Occupational Health question.
Team "Thundercats, Go!" was the only team to correctly answer the tricky Final Jeopardy question. They, however, were not able to overcome their point defecit.
Team "Cam Newton Cries" poses as victors. They had some savvy strategy, only betting $1 on Final Jeopardy.
Congratulations 2016 OEH Jeopardy Champs!
2016 End of Year Celebration and Pennant Hanging
Students and faculty gathered at IREH to celebrate the end of the Spring 2016 semester, prepare for AIHce 2016, and participate in the ceremonial pennant hanging.
First up was the traditional duct smash to signify the end of Ventilation Controls class. Duct smashing has been a tradition for UIowa students since 2010. It is a great way to get out residual aggression from finals and group projects. Once the duct was sufficiently flattened, students signed the duct, forever commemorating their participation.
Next up was the ceremonial pennant hanging for all program graduates. Pennants hang in the lab at IREH, commemorating the student's time in the program. This year, we celebrated the accomplishments of four students:
- Joel Ramirez, PhD, December 2015
- Aimee Liz Stark, M.S., May 2016
- Sarah Ischer, M.S., May 2016
- Kate Crawford, M.S., May 2016
Congratulations to all of the 2016 program graduates! Thank you to all who donated food and time to make this celebration a success.
