I3HSA Resume Workshop

I3HSA would like to thank Andrés Carlstein for sharing tips on the "Do's and Don'ts of Resume and CV writing."

Before we learned more about perfecting our resumes, we had a potluck lunch. It was a good time to catch up with each other and unwind in the midst of a busy semester.

2016 Resume workshop

Here are a few helpful tips for your resume:

  • Your resume is a marketing tool. Put information about yourself that highlights your professional history and is appealing to your potential employer. Your resume  determines if you get an interview!
  • Avoid using templates. Be sure indentations, fonts, bullet points, and spacing are consistent throughout your resume.
  • List jobs on your resume only if they show great responsibility, leadership, and impressive numbers.

If you're interested in having your resume and/or cover letter reviewed, please contact I3HSA for Mr. Carlstein's contact information.

Game Day Recycling 2016

I3HSA joined the Office of Sustainability and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity to help fans recycle at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, September 10th, 2016. The goal of the Gameday Recycling Program is to reduce the amount of trash that would otherwise end up in the landfill after football games. I3HSA members were assigned to a gate and helped attendees sort their trash and recycling.

Iowa Memorial Union (IMU) Wreath Auction

Even though it's February, it's never too late to talk about a great thing we did in December!

I3HSA and the OEH Department participated in the IMU Wreath Auction in December to benefit The University of Iowa Dance Marathon. Dance Marathon creates and sustains special projects to provide emotional and financial support for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients and their families treated at University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

I3HSA decorated the wreath with an outdoor/nature theme in mind. A gift card to Active Endeavors was also attached to the wreath to increase the money raised during the auction.  Also, due to generous donations, I3HSA decided to donate the remaining funds to the Johnson County Crisis Center to diversify the charities being supported.
